Philani Moyo

Prof. Philani Moyo, a University of Leeds alumnus, is the Director of the Fort Hare Institute for Social and Economic Research (FHISER). He has researched and published extensively on the social dimensions of climate change, food security and migration. The South African National Research Foundation (NRF) funds his two ongoing research projects on ‘Climate Smart Agriculture, Adaptation and Resilience Building’ and ‘Social Learning and Sustainable Development’. Prof Moyo is a member of the Academy of Science of South Africa’s (ASSAf’s) Standing Committee on the Science for the Reduction of Poverty and Inequality (2017-present), past Co-Chair of the South African Young Academy of Science (2017-19) and past Secretary of the South African Sociological Association (2013-14).
